• Some things that might help people from my personal experiences:

There are conventions based around tech and video games etc, its good to go to them to network. If anyone is interested, i can give some more examples of that.

Also look up individual companies websites for their internship/entry lvl jobs. Find ones whose style closely matches yours because your portfolio would be more appealing to them and you’re not wasting each others time.

HAVE a portfolio handy, you can create one easily on apps that you can carry around on your phone. Physical portfolios are more for like in person interviews. But if you’re Networking in person its better to have something on your mobile device.

Some major companies will often have seminars, i know Blizzard had one that i was invited to and sat in on. But also be sure its a company you want to work for, look into their practices before hand and what former employees say.

      • @HMalas great tips for professionals looking for jobs within any creative tech area. I would add the below from my experience:
        – Have your own website, even a simple WordPress site with your portfolio there. You can have your digital resume on your website too.
        – Blog or publish your work on social platforms like here “Muslim Creatives” or IG/X etc.
        – Create a virtual business card and have it ready as a QR code and/or print paper business cards too when networking.
        – Attend trainings and workshops in your industry to keep up with the latest tools/tech.

        • This is great, these tips definitely helped me start out as well. I even submitted my CV to companies that didn’t have openings but I really liked or aligned with. It may just so happen that they don’t yet have a person with a particular skill set you may have but they’re keen to look into!

          • Another tip: if you’re a student or minority, you can usually apply for assistance at Gaming Convention events and get in for free or discounted so keep a look out for those posts on their socials!
