What’s your creative profession, and what led you to pursue it?
As a jeweler, I specialize in crafting unique bracelets and earrings. My passion for bracelet-making traces back to my childhood. Crafting diverse types of jewelry allows me to express creativity and individuality. Explore a variety of styles available through my small business.
How has your creative journey been so far?
Honestly, it’s been a rollercoaster, and Alhamdullah, I am grateful for it all. I’m constantly seeking new opportunities! I’m especially excited by what captures individuals’ attention in jewelry, as everyone has unique tastes and preferences!
Tell us more about your portfolio and the story behind your work.
I’ve always enjoyed making handmade bracelets because they let your creativity shine and make you stand out. Creating them just boosts your confidence. So, I started my little venture, J.O Jewlery, to share my diverse jewelry designs with everyone. From bracelets to other fun pieces, I want to show off my unique style.
What are you currently working on?
I’m juggling a few side projects at the moment. One of the things I’m diving into is figuring out what people are excited to see in new jewelry designs, I am testing everything out. And hey, someday I dream of opening up my jewelry store!
What unique challenges or frustrations have you faced as a Muslim creative?
I’m a Latina Muslim revert since 2021. Being a revert, I felt pretty isolated since I was the only one in my family practicing. But you know what? Allah has guided me to connect with many other reverts who are on the same journey as me. Together, we support each other, learn, and grow every single day.
What kinds of opportunities are you actively seeking or hoping to explore within your creative journey?
I’m hoping to meet all kinds of people, including reverts! I also want to share my creativity and help people feel beautiful in their skin.
How does your cultural background influence your creative process?
I’m inspired to create all sorts of bracelets that reflect my Latino culture.
What are your long-term goals as a Muslim creative?
I want to show other kids and people how to make bracelets and express themselves, especially within the Muslim community.
How can anyone get in touch to collaborate with you?
